Over the next couple of months I'll endeavor to explain this to you. However, allow me to start with this:

I recently read an article (many sites posted this, but the one I found in particular is from the Cult of Mac which reported on an email allegedly sent to Phil Schiller at Apple regarding the Fifth Generation iPod Touch's lack of an ambient light sensor. Reportedly, the email read:

Phil, I have noticed that there is no auto-brightness setting on my new 5th generation iPod touch. Care to explain, Sir?

I'm not sure which astonishes me more: The lack of respect in the original email or the idea that Mr. Schiller may have actually responded.
